SHALOM

well, ironically, i'm writing to you from study abroad. again! i know what you're thinking. actually no i don't.  i mean you could be thinking, wow, who is this greedy girl going on two study abroads, or you could be thinking what i'm thinking like WAY TO GO LIV!

you guys, i'm so happy to be here in the holy land. the place where the savior lived and breathed. i have dreamed of coming to jerusalem for as long as i can remember. i have always been captivated by the history and cultures of the beautiful city.  i really am the luckiest girl in the world.

walking through the old city is even more magical than i imagined it would be.  i've already been to the holy sepulchre which is built over the place where the christian faith believes christ was crucified, laid, and then resurrected. yesterday before the sabbath we visited the western wall, a place where israeli jews go to worship, pray, and meditate. i haven't been to the dome of the rock, but the byu jerusalem center overlooks the old city and the gold dome radiates in the sun and is lit up at night. this is one of the holiest sites of the muslim faith.  all of these places are so special to me to see first hand.  it is so touching to see people come to these sites and witness the emotions on each of their faces.  you cannot help but to feel the spirit as you watch them.

but what it's really like walking through the old city is me looking like a zombie from the jet lag. DANG JET LAG!

the city is beautiful. the pita is addictive. the people are great. the call to prayer is magical.

weekly updates to come.

some really great, sweaty people.

the view i wake up to every day.
